In living life to its fullest we are required, of ourselves, to take chances, to
go beyond our own comfort zones.
To explore beyond the familiar we have to learn, esoterically
speaking, to Swim the Great Waters. Sufi teaching stories,
especially, refer to Spiritual Work as Learning to Swim.
When we swim through storms, or shark-infested waters, and become
tired or wounded, a safe harbor is needed to rest, heal, and regenerate
our strength. We need to know the direction of our nearest
Island of Resilience.
Every person needs to know his/her inner strengths that can be called
upon in difficult times at sea. Unless we know these Island, and
how to access them from within, we would hardly have the courage to
venture forth upon ever-widening horizons.
These Islands of Resilience are aspects of ourselves that we
regard as reliable sources of strength and confidence.
When, for example, our personality has taken a beating, it is good to
know, that if it is a bit too much to handle, that we have these islands
(a uniquely humorous perspective, perhaps?) to bolster enough
self-esteem to remain buoyant, until that day comes when we can swim
without it.

therefore unused, Islands of Resilience.
